Niacinamide/Nicotinamide
What is Niacinamide
Pronounced `nī-ə-ˈsi-nə-ˌmīd also called nicotinamide, is a water-soluble form of Vitamin B3 that’s found naturally in our skin.
What will it do?
It helps reduce inflammation: so acne, rosacea or other flare ups. Also known to minimize the appearance of pores (but not proven). There’s some research around niacinamide being able to strengthen the outer layer of our skin (which really is the protective part), therefore improving hyperpigmentation dark spots and softens wrinkles/fine lines by retaining moisture and improving the natural production of ceramides. It helps neutralize free radicals — which typically disrupt our skins ability to function properly and is just damaging. It’s also a great ingredient to use if your skin is feeling a bit dehydrated.
Tip
This ingredient is best used in combination with other ingredients like AHAs, BHAs, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, retinol, peptides etc. If you have sensitive skin and cannot handle AHAs, this could be a great alternative.
Even thought we’ve been working remotely (most of us) for almost a year, it’s still incredibly important to wear sunscreen. If your new work-from-home station is by a window, guess what, ya need sunscreen! This Supergoop sunscreen is a pretty new product in their collection, and in Supergoop fashion, they are doing some pretty fun things with formula and texture.
