What is Zinc?

Pronounced ˈziŋk, is a mineral that helps our cells “communicate” to one another. It’s an antioxidant that promotes a healthy immune system and heals tissues.

What will it do?

Zinc will has many uses in the body, mainly to maintain a healthy immune system and it acts as an incredible healing ingredient. When used in skincare it can balance the oil glands (great for acne), is an anti-inflammatory, great for treating skin lesions, encourages collagen production (anti-aging), can create a barrier protecting skin from UV rays and can be used as an astringent.

Tip

  • Oral zinc supplements are said to work better than topical.

  • Zinc can be used for treating burn scars.

  • Is a good ingredient to look into if you are struggling with acne.

  • The skin doesn’t absorb zinc that well so it has to be chelated to other amino acids, so you will see zinc in the ingredient list like: Zinc Oxide, Zinc-Clycine, etc
