Squalane
What is Squalene?
Pronounced `skwā-lēn. Is a poly-unsaturated hydrocarbon liquid, that is naturally occurring in plants and animals (including sebum). In english, that means it’s a synthetic fluid compound of hydrogen and carbon from natural gas and mineral oils. Typically pulled from olives, wheat germ oil and rice bran.
What will it do?
It’s a great natural antioxidant and good for softening or smoothing your skin. Locks in moisture to help with dry skin or fine lines. Is a good moisturizer for your skin, hair and nails.
Ingredient Tip
Squalane is a better ingredient if you have oily skin. Don’t get it confused with squalene, which is actually better for dry or mature skin types, as it’s a little bit heavier. Also make sure you are getting hydrogenated squalane oil or else it will oxidize and becoming ineffective.
