In Review: A Month of Neal's Yard Remedies
I haven’t done one of these in a while, so i’m very excited to be posting a new Month Of review. When I was last in London, I was pulled into a Neal’s Yard Remedies store (based off smell alone) at one of the train stations. The sales associates were so informative, helpful and patient as I was very slowly looking around the store.
They pointed me in the direction of the Purifying Palmarosa Skincare Kit since this is a good starter for problem or oily skin. The kit contains four products: cleanser, toner, moisturizer and a clay based face mask. The main ingredient throughout all four products is organic palmarosa grass. This is kinda a super ingredient for those of us that have oily/acne prone skin. It’s not only hydrating, but it’s great for calming inflammation, balances sebum and actually helps heal cuts/bruises *cough freshly popped zits*. So needless to say I was very excited to check this product line out.
I decided I was going to use the cleanser, toner and moisturizer both at night an in the morning, while using the mask at least once a week. I have to say i’m OBSESSED with this line from them. My face truly smelled like I was in an aromatherapy shop! It’s been so relaxing going to bed at night with this intoxicating smell on my face. So let me break everything down a bit more…
My routine in this order
Purifying Palmarosa Facial Wash
This gel like cleanser does a fantastic job at removing makeup, dirt and oil from my face. It has a gentle spreadable foam that doesn’t lather a whole lot. The cleanser smells like heaven. Move over Indie Lee, I think I found my newest favorite smelling cleanser.
Purifying Palmarosa Toner
While the cleanser blew me away with it’s scent, I felt the toner did the opposite and kinda turned me off. It doesn’t smell bad, just not great. It’s made with 97% organic ingredients, so maybe this is why? I’m sure some of you guys would like the smell, this one was just not as magical as the cleanser. The toner overall did a great job at removing extra dirt that the cleanser left behind. My pores did appear smaller, which really just means it was doing a good job at removing the dirt from my face. My skin actually felt pretty hydrated after application which comes in handy for the next step.
Purifying Palmarose Daily Moisture
This is an incredibly light weight moisturizer, and probably wouldn’t work at all for those with normal or dry skin. I loved that it soaked into my skin instantly, and really helped mattify my skin. On the dry days, I actually had to apply this stuff twice, it’s that light! This moisturizer redeemed the kit in the smell department, it twas glorious. I followed the moisturizer with some SPF, which actually helped keep my skin from feeling dry.
SPF (Not Neal’s Yard Remedies)
I used the Supergoop unseen sunscreen after my moisturizer step. I love this one because it doubles as a primer! Win-win.
Purifying Palmarosa Facial Mask
I’ve never said what i’m about to say next… it’s just as good as my go-to Arcona Tea Tree mask. I LOVE this mask. I saw results instantly after using it: acne shrunk in size, redness was reduced all over my face. I even use it as a spot treatment when I notice little flare ups. Highly recommend this mask if you struggle with mild acne break outs. Also fun fact, 59% of this masks ingredients are organic.
