In Review: A Month Of Sunday Riley

Sunday Riley Brightening Routine

I’m a bit obsessed with Sunday Riley products, so I decided to do a Month Of challenge where i’m only using their products within my morning and night routine! If you don’t know anything about Sunday Riley they follow a Green Technology Commitment which means that their products are clean, they use natural fragrances, and they are very particular about where they source their high quality ingredients. They are also cruelty-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, soy-free, phthalate-free and fragrance free. Hell ya! What’s not to like about that? What I don’t like about Sunday Riley is that they are expensive, and they take all of my money, but i’m OK with that because the stuff works. They do sell mini versions of their products, so it’s a great way to test their assortment without breaking the bank.

Most of their products are dedicated to brightening, acne and anti-aging — which work in my favor, since these are typically the issues I like to address. For this Month Of challenge, my goal was to even out my skins tone and texture, so my routine was all about brightening!

My AM Routine, In this Order

Cleanser (not Sunday Riley)
I have to admit, I wasn’t 100% pure… I didn’t use a Sunday Riley cleanser. I did however stay within my brightening trend, and used the Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser.

C.E.O., 15% Vitamin C Serum
I got this product because I wanted something that could help reduce the appearance of my acne marks (dark spots stay with me for a while). This product is really light weight, goes on smooth, and absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. It helped with brightening the appearance of my face (dull no more), and also helped even out discolorations like sun spots or acne scars. The CEO Serum is formulated for all skin types including sensitive skin, and I love that it doesn’t have a smell like most vitamin c products.

Good Genes, Glycolic Acid Treatment
What’s a bit confusing is that there are two different types of the Good Genes formulas. The first being the lactic acid version which sits more on the surface of your skin (good for hydration), and there is the glycolic acid treatment which penetrates the skin a little bit deeper (good for acne).

For this experiment I used the glycolic version. I would recommend using a thin layer of this product after the CEO serum absorbs into the skin, because it can get a bit spicy on the face if you get heavy handed. I typically love the lactic acid version of this product but the glycolic was a little too strong for me. I’m not ditching Good Genes completely, because it truly is one of my favorite Sunday Riley products. I just over did it with the glycolic version!

Auto Correct, Brightening and Depuffing Eye Contour Cream
I really love this product because it does everything that it says it will do. Which is good for me because it helps tackle my main issue: crows feet. I’m always looking for a good anti-aging eye cream that isn’t just an expensive moisturizer, and this is it. I like that you can use this eye cream all around my eye (not just under the eye) without any irritation. I saw the difference in the tone and texture of my skin right away. Highly recommend this one!

Tidal, Brightening Enzyme Water Cream
Tidal is basically a two in one moisturizer. It not only hydrates the skin, but it brightens it as well! This moisturizer is incredibly light weight, almost like a water gel that makes your skin look nice and dewy. This product may not be enough hydration for my dry skin type people, but I found that it was a nicely balanced cream for my combo to oily skin type. I loved this product and will be getting it again!

My PM Routine, In this order

Cleanser (not Sunday Riley)
Same as AM review.

Luna, Sleeping Night Oil (or U.F.O.)
After cleansing, I used the Luna oil as my moisturizer. If you have oily skin like me, sometimes an oil is enough. If you need a bit more hydration, you can add the Tidal cream after this step.

I really liked this retinol based sleeping oil because I would wake up with an even toned complexion. I prefer nigh time products that help reduce the redness in my skin, helps with my acne or that has anti-aging benefits. Two out of three ain’t bad! This particular product targets the appearance of aging and also helps reduce inflammation in the skin.

U.F.O., Acne Treatment Face Oil (or Luna)
Some nights I used the U.F.O oil instead of the Luna oil, for when my hormones were kicking up. This is similar to the Luna oil in that it helps neutralize my skin, but it’s an incredible product that helps keep my break outs at bay. It contains a small amount of salicylic acid, and I love it because it both exfoliates the skin and helps reduce inflammation at the same time. It can be a little oily, but it will sink into the skin pretty quickly. If you are acne prone, I would highly recommend having this as a staple in your cabinet! You can read more about it here.
