Ascorbic Acid
What is Ascorbic Acid?
Pronounced `ə, skôrbik `asəd. Is also known as L-ascorbic acid and sometimes believed to be Vitamin C, which it’s not. It’s actually its own artificial form of Vitamin C, acting like the ingredient performing its specific function and at a very potent form of vitamin c.
What will it do?
It’s an antioxidant that helps with evening out your skin tone, reduce dark spots, and it helps keep your skin texture nice and smooth — so a great anti-aging ingredient. It comes in varying levels of potency. This ingredient can work even harder when paired with other antioxidants like niacinamide.
Tip
This is a very vulnerable antioxidant. So it needs to be kept out of sunlight.
I’m constantly looking for a gentle Vitamin C product, so I tested a k-beauty favorite from the brand Klairs. This 5% Vitamin C serum is supposed to be great for sensitive skin types. Will this one do the trick?
