A Month Of: I've Ditched My Exfoliating Products, Week 2 Update
I’ve now wrapped week two of my no-exfoliator experiment, and boy were there highs and lows! After this week I learned a lot. Once I received my sensitive skincare products, things started to transform. All of this has made me realize, my skin has changed. Since moving from New York to California (a much drier climate), I believe i’ve gone from oily/acne prone to sensitive, and I haven’t been addressing my issues correctly. Or since most of the redness issue is fairly new, maybe my skins chemistry has shifted as i’ve gotten older. Either way, i’m really glad i’m doing this experiment.
What are the results?
To note, I’m gonna start writing these like a diary entry. So the tense is all off (sorry to the grammar folks).
Start of the week (day 9)
My face is still red, and I truly hate this experiment. Breaking out so much, and none of my new “sensitive” skincare have arrived yet due to delayed shipping. Since i’m in a state of limbo, I can’t combat my breakouts or redness at all. Trying to create a routine that’s soothing for my skin but it’s turning into a disaster. Feeling like the ups and downs to my skin are more extreme than normal — truly embarrassed by my skin at the moment. I think I may need to do SOME sort of spot treatment to get this under control, should I break out my Sunady Riley UFO oil?Don’t judge me…
Halfway through week (Day 11)
My skincare orders have finally arrived, and with just two days of using these products, i’ve started to see some improvements with my skin! I noticed that my face was feeling really soft, the redness is starting to decrease, and my breakouts are also calming down a bit — all of these are such great signs!
End of the week (day 14)
My skin was looking great! The texture of my skin looks amazing, better than it has in a while to be honest.
New skincare routine:
I went on a sensitive skin haul at Credo Beauty, Sephora and Cocokind and reworked my AM/PM routine, listed below. The day and night routines are pretty similar and will be swapping a few things out next week.

Eye Cream - Biossance, Squalane and Marine Algae Eye Cream (will be testing a new eye cream starting next week)

Reminder: What products am I trying to avoid?
Ditching anything that helps me with acne (pray for me!) and fine lines. So no products that contain:
Vitamin C
Lactic Acid
Retinol
Glycolic Acid
Salicylic Acid
Physical exfoliators (scrubs, polishing powders or peeling gels)
**Next week i’m going to take pictures of my face after I put on skincare products vs when I just wake up and my face is all puffy. And i’m going to do it in natural light instead of the artificial! So images will change slightly.
Even thought we’ve been working remotely (most of us) for almost a year, it’s still incredibly important to wear sunscreen. If your new work-from-home station is by a window, guess what, ya need sunscreen! This Supergoop sunscreen is a pretty new product in their collection, and in Supergoop fashion, they are doing some pretty fun things with formula and texture.
